join us for our last tuesday slayers of the academic year on 21 st august. we’ll have a selection of our favourite board games, wargames, anime screenings, rpgs and console gaming area. slayers24 ragnaröq? 1st may 2018 5th august 2018 john-joe mccorley leave a comment ragnarök the final destruction of the world in the conflict between the aesir and the powers of hel led by loki — called also twilight of the gods. merriam-webster join us for the final slayers24 of this academic season, and the last before q-con . additionally, in the true spirit of ragnarök, this is the last slayers24 to ever be held before the destruction of the queen’s students union building by the powers of qub. the future of slayers24s are unknown at this point but, hopefully, like in norse mythology, they can be resurrected again! the event takes place beginning on saturday, may 12 th from 10am. be prepared for another fun filled night of gaming and anime! console gaming, pc gaming and esports, tabletop games, anime screenings and our wide range of events and tournaments on offer! thanks to the pizza co. belfast for providing our with our great discount, which gets us the excellent deal of a 16” pizza for just £9, and because it’s out 24, if you order via committee you will also get your choice of garlic bread or wedges, or upgrade this side to chicken strips for an extra £2! as required by the new su constitution, we will be modifying our own constitution. the proposed changes will be posted by march 27 th for all members to review. there will also be a vote to ratify these changes at the agm. please bring student card in order to stand and/or vote in the upcoming elections, in accordance with students’ union’s constitution, for the positions detailed below: president secretary treasurer anime rep electronic gaming rep traditional gaming rep social secretary if any member wishes to raise any issues for discussion at the agm, these must be submitted to the president 7+ days before the agm. * all other members (non-qub-students) are welcome to be present, but are not eligible to vote, or stand for the aforementioned positions, and regular dragonslayers activities will continue in half of the space. however, there will be a society wide general meeting on the 15 th of may 2018, which will more closely resemble agms of the past. this will allow up to inform all members about society news, and changes going forward. here we will also open the floor for members to demonstrate interest in non elected, co-opted committee positions. qft – sword of the stranger 1st march 2018 john-joe mccorley leave a comment there is even more anime at queen’s film theater . we are very pleased inform you that masahiro andō’s sword of the stranger , produced by studio bones, is showing as part of qft’s japan foundation season. the film is set in feudal-era japan. young kotaro is pursued by the royal army of china’s ming dynasty. when his loyal dog tobimaru is injured in an ambush, kotaru reluctantly recruits a mysterious, nameless samurai as his bodyguard. however, “no-name” has a guilty past and his own inner demons to battle. a classic animation featuring stunningly animated fight scenes. the movie starts at 18:20 on thursday, the 1 st of march 2018. student tickets are £4, full price tickets are £6.70 qft – a silent voice 23rd february 2018 1st march 2018 john-joe mccorley leave a comment we at dragonslayers are not only excited to screen anime for our members, but also to see anime screenings by other groups and organisations. we are very pleased to see some great anime coming to queen’s film theater , starting with naoko yamada’s a silent voice , based on the manga series written by mangaka yoshitoki oima, serialised in weekly shonen magazine. the film centres around shôya, who bullies classmate shoko because of her hearing impairment. years later, wracked with guilt, shôya tries to find shoko who had to move to a new school. a heartwarming and thought-provoking anime about regret, reflection and atonement. the movie starts at 13:30 on sunday, the 25 th of february 2018. student tickets are £4, full price tickets are £6.70 slayers24 – phantom mini edition 16th february 2018 1st may 2018 john-joe mccorley leave a comment slayers24 is back for another day and night of fun and gaming!
